It really is just iteratively adding old features to a new OS. Why is this controversial? Nothing Apple is doing is technically advanced. I may change my opinion if I see a big MS Win32 App bring out a UWP version.
I prefer the MS outcome at the moment - but with Apple having their developers happy with the comparatively limited new OS and eager to take advantage of new features, it seems to be their game long term. Meanwhile, Microsoft are frantically trying to rebuild the plane whilst it's flying. I think OSX is ultimately on borrowed time. It's brilliant really - they're quietly building a future OS in an Agile, iterative way.
I have sneaking feeling your comment is going to be at least controversial!īut Apple's trick is that they have got people to pay for this. If by playing catchup you mean iOS is catching up to Windows? Yes, Apple has steadily been catching up since 2007 when it didn't have multitasking, copy and paste, printing, nor apps. Is it just me, or is Apple now playing catchup to Microsoft when it comes to their flagship OS's.
